My cream appears to have mold?Updated 3 months ago

If you see any evidence of mold growing in your cream product(s), please discontinue use.

Our products are made from food – food that feeds your skin! It is best to think of caring for these products in a similar way that you would think of caring for your food. In other words, use clean hands and use the products after opening within a reasonable amount of time. The product may spoil before the expected shelf life if subject to extreme temperatures (excessive heat) or if too much bacteria is introduced. For example, using wet hands to grab cream would introduce tap water, which over time could create an environment for mold to begin to form... similar to many items in your kitchen! Or, the product can become too warm if kept on a bathroom counter that regularly gets steamy from a hot shower, and this too can promote an environment for moldy growth.

Once you open a product, you need to begin to use it (just like you would with food). All of our products are COMPLETELY FREE from preservatives, stabilizers, or chemical concoctions that are so often used to keep things shelf-stable. For this reason, they should be stored at or below room temperature: below 72°F, but not below 40°F. If temperatures regularly exceed these conditions, it is best to store these products in your refrigerator (especially the creams). If you are ordering extra products that will not be used right away or may be kept for future use, storing them in the refrigerator is strongly advised for prolonged shelf life.

You should see a date stamped onto your product label (or adhered via a sticker on the bottom of the container) which indicates the manufacture date. Generally, all of our products have a shelf life of about 1 ½ to 2 years. If your product is older than this, it's time to toss it and order a fresh one. If your product has gone bad well before the expected shelf life, it's safe to assume that it was exposed to heat or bacteria.

We sure hope this helps to understand the shelf life and nature of our products. Please note that this is an automated message. If your product has gone bad before the expected shelf life date, please respond to this message and a member of our team will get back to you with a resolution!
